Two Audiobahn AWES12P powered by a Audiobahn
A2200HCT. Front speakers are Infinity Kappa 13cm. Components and
the rear are Infinity Kappa 17cm coaxils. Both front and rear speakers
are powered by a Genesis Profile Four amplifier. The headunit is
a DVD player from Alpine Electronics, specifically the IVA-d310r. Fibreglass
boot build was built on site by our in-house mechanic Paul Mitchell. Equipment
fitted by our experienced engineers. Painted and finished by Raymond
@ Ellon Auto Repairs. It was then finally airbrushed by a contact
in Montrose.
The finish is stunning and the effect comes alive
in the dark when the blue accent lighting is on.
STAGE 1 where supports
for the subwoofers are made from MDF as are the sides and the back
of the boot |

|
|
|
| STAGE 2 where we test
fit the equiptment in the boot to make sure the clearences are fine. |
|
STAGE 3 - We lay acoustic
cloth over the mdf frame work and staple it in places to create the
basic overall shape. We
then coat the cloth with a liquid resin which reacts and hardens
setting the cloth to the desired shape. |
|
|
|
|
| STAGE 4 - we reinforce
the hardened acoustic cloth with fibre glass matting. We applied
3-4 layers as we expected high levels of bass! |
|
STAGE 5 - once we layered the fibre glass it was
time to aim toward the finished stage. To do this it was onto differing
grades of body filler. This was probably the most time consuming
part of the install as the finish we get at this stage is going to
determine the quality of the paint finish. |

|
|
|
STAGE 6 is basically the finished
article less the equipment. At the end of stage 5 we handed
the car over to Raymond @ Ellon Auto Repair to finish off filling
and smoothing the install and to apply several layers of gloss
black paint. This was to give our airbrush artist a deep black finish
to begin her work. She was then instructed to give the boot
a lightning strike effect throughout. Having
never witnessed an airbrush artists work, the finish is amazing
and the way the effect shows off when the neons are on is amazing. |
